Dennis Friedly was living in Utah when he made his first knife. He admits he was influenced by an early custom maker and spent a good deal of time on that first blade. Oddly enough, that first Bowie was purchased at the first knife show at which he displayed his efforts. The knife was bought by the late George Nelson Cooper, long revered for the design influences he had in the knifemaking field.
